BiographyWhen Day Descends is a progressive rock/metal project from Australia. Dave Caswell began the project in 2001 when he sought to express his progressive influences away from the heavier side of his other projects at the time. The debut album was released as an instrumental solo project, but the project is now a full 5-member band. This project is inspired by a varied range of musicians including Opeth, Pain of Salvation, Dark Suns, Kayo Dot and Paatos. All have left their mark on the music of When Day Descends, though the result is clearly distinguishable from each. The debut album, "Transcend", has been in the making for over three years, with Dave working patiently and persistently as the pieces fell into place. The final result of the countless hours of recording, mixing and mastering is a professional quality debut. This was released in a small mostly promotional run beginning in early August 2005 to set the When Day Descends ship on its journey. The follow-up album, "Ascension", was released in late 2006 as the last product of the solo-project phase. This album is closer to film-score music than anything else, and is a temporary departure in style, written for personal reasons and released as more of a thankyou for the support of fans. Future albums are already well on the way too, with each new album providing its own unique sound. Plans are already in motion for recording and releasing the first album as a full band in early 2007. From epic metal riffing, to orchestral film-score music, to classical guitar pieces, to elaborate progressive rock, this is an ambitious project set to make its mark in the progressive scene. |
